Genetic breeding for crops and livestock

As genomic technology develops, marker-assisted selection and genomic selection are widely applicated in breeding of crops and livestock.

Marker-assisted selection (MAS) is an indirect selection process where a trait of interest is selected based on a marker linked to a trait of interest, rather than on the trait itself.  Genomic selection is novel approach to traditional marker-assisted selection where selection are made based on few markers. Rather than seeking to identify individual loci significantly associated with a trait, genomics uses all marker data as predictors of performance and consequently delivers more accurate predictions. It can realize early selection of individual, shorten generation interval and improve efficiency of agricultural breeding.

The advantage of the MGI

1) A One-stop solution combines library preparation, sequencing and data analysis

2) appropriate for WGS and GBS

3) Multiple sequencing modes are supported
